LNG Storage and Vaporization

The FLNG facility features two full-containment storage tanks, each with a capacity of 160,000 cubic meters of LNG (a third tank is envisioned for phase II). Each tank has a primary inner container of 9% nickel steel and a secondary outer container of pre-stressed concrete with a concrete roof that extends to the outside container.

Cool-Down Cargo and Plant Start Up

A prerequisite for any LNG plant start up is a successful plant cool-down process. During this process, LNG is slowly introduced into the facility until the required operating temperature is attained.

On Tuesday, April 15, 2008, the LNG vessel Excelsior docked at our facility to begin the cool-down and testing process. By April 30, a total of 135,000 M3 of LNG was successfully offloaded from the Excelsior into our two tanks.

On May 13, we received our second LNG cargo from the Excalibur. This second cargo was also successfully processed in less than two days.
